It’s In My Blood
I have a love for Africa, I am constantly reading books about Africa, trying to be a part of organizations that support causes over in Africa and my career goal in life will hopefully allow me to help out in Africa one day.
My passion is to use my medical career to help in whatever way I can to give someone hope for the future. Being on a couple mission trips I have seen what a little love can do for someone. I want to be able to offer that to others and more so I want to be able to do that on my mission trips.
I can’t wait for the moment that I will be able to do that and I can’t wait to learn and grow from those I meet in my travels. I often feel guilty for the blessings I have received by being born in the United States; for caring more about those in other countries then for those in my own. I often care and try to learn about the politics in other countries and yet I couldn’t even tell you who was running for President in the U.S. Does that make me a bad person?
I don’t feel like it does but others seem to think differently. My heart is for Africa and it will always be for Africa; that does not mean that I don’t care about what goes on in my own country or that I don’t want to help individuals here. My feelings are far from that; I just happen to be one of those individuals who want to put my time and energy into something that I have cared about for so long and that is missions. It’s in my blood and nothing could ever change that!

And I bet one day you will be there. God usually gives us a passion about something for a reason, but the hard part is following His timeline instead of our own.

That is so awesome. Go for it. Let your heart beat first for God, and then also for Africa!! :)!
I farily unbias site for current news is “All Africa”, http://allafrica.com .
I would be interested in any sites you use. Much of what is report in US papers about Africa is in my opinion misleading headlines.
Inter-tribal warfare seems to be at the heart of so many of the conflicts in Africa. The European powers carved up Africa into “countries” whose boundaries never respected the territory of the tribes that lived there. These tribes have lived segregated lives from each other and there is little or no trust between them. It isn’t a good solution but perhaps it would be best if each tribe had it’s own separate country.
Is there any particular part of Africa that interest you?
Ed, thanks for the site. I will have to check it out. To be honest a lot of my learning about Africa comes from reading true life books. Like you stated above it is hard to find the actual truth unless you pick up a book. As for as an area, I don’t have one. I plan on just going from one spot to the next when I go there!
